During our final months of the school year we will apply our knowledge of math as it applies to real life. Each student will be responsible for creating and managing his or her own budget. As a means for you to demonstrate how you have applied your knowledge, you will create a GarageBand podcast or Jing screencast which includes the following requirements:
- A multimedia score created using Garage Band or Jing
- The monologue of each contributor must be at least 60 seconds long.
- The details of the project can be found at the following link: http://www.franklinlakes.k12.nj.us/faculty/snee/WEBQUEST/budgetwebquest2009.htm
- This project is worth 25% of your MP 4 Grade, so it would be wise to go the extra mile, give the extra effort and take the time to produce a high quality product. My expectation for the final product is much higher than it was for your first Jing and GarageBand projects.
- The following highlights what must be done in order to complete the project:To complete the project, make any changes to your budget THAT YOU CONSIDER NECESSARY (not necessarily the changes your teacher recommended). Write a summary of the changes you made, and why you made them
The completed project should contain the following:
* 1 typewritten copy of the worksheet to be submitted electronically, the initial copy (Due by May 13, 2009) and the revised copy (Due by May 29, 2009),
* A Word Document which describes the recommendations that were made to you , and the summary of the changes you made (Due by May 29, 2009)
* A Jing or Podcast describing your Final Budget to be delivered to the class drop in box (Due by June 1, 2009). Your presentation must be delivered electronically to the Hand In Folder by May 20, 2009 in order to be reviewed and critiqued by Mr. Snee with no penalty.
* Presentations will be held on June 5, June 8, and June 9. The project will be graded on how accurate your calculations are, how realistic the budget is, how well thought out the revisions made, with your explanation.
There are no excuses for a tardy delivery as the final product must be electronically submitted to Mr. Snee’s Grade 7 Workspace Hand In Folder. In other words, if you are out of school, your absence will not excuse you from receiving a zero for this project. A piece of advice, don’t wait until the last minute, hand it in early just in case something goes wrong. PLAN TO EXECUTE, and then EXECUTE THE PLAN!!!!! Manage your time, balance the workload and don’t make the mistake of waiting until the last minute.
Please note that these podcasts and screencasts will be posted on this blog site for the whole world to see and hear, so you should not include any personal information or references in your podcast.
Good luck, have some fun with this project and happy podcasting!!!!!
